The successful candidate for the position will manage the delivery of information technology services and lead key organizational processes to meet business needs. The Storage landscape primarily includes over 100 physical and virtual NetApp and Dell/EMC arrays. Specific products include NetApp All-Flash and FAS systems for NAS and SAN, Dell/EMC Unity, Isilon and Data Domain. The data protection environment includes NetWorker 9.x through the latest version. These environments serve as primary storage platforms and protection for files, applications, and databases. Working with other teams around the world, you will identify, qualify, recommend, and support Storage and Data Protection solutions. You will also manage an end-to-end monitoring strategy for Storage devices that focuses on availability, performance, quality, and business outcomes. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to research, develop, test, document, deploy and maintain all aspects of public cloud technologies.

Responsibilities related to Storage and Data Protection:

  • Coordinate IT operations of the Storage and Backup environment (patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, downtime planning, periodic backup/restoration testing, etc.) between Business Partners, IT administrators and end-users.
  • Drive productivity improvements in our Storage and Backup environment while maintaining business continuity & performance
  • Oversee a technical team of administrators responsible for day-to-day Storage and Backup operations
  • Ensure compliance standards, policies & regulations (e.g. architecture, security, SOX, FDA, PII, Privileged Access Management)
  • Provide guidance in the creation and modification of standards and procedures
  • Be an advocate for existing standards, policies, and procedures while pushing for innovation & improvements
  • Develop reports for senior management and key stakeholders
  • Lead and coordinate the development of periodic upgrades to the Storage systems which will also include migration to the public cloud
  • Provide guidance for ongoing corrective and preventative maintenance to improve reliability and availability of the Storage and Backup environment. Drive the team to determine the root cause of failures and overseeing remediations to prevent reoccurrence.
  • This position will work with a globally dispersed team all will require occasional after-hours and weekend work


    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience with storage and backup technology/architecture
  • NetApp Storage (FAS/AFF, StorageGrid, Data Fabric, Ontap Clustered Data)
  • Dell/EMC Isilon/Unity/DataDomain/ECS storage
  • Dell/EMC NetWorker Data Protection Suite (Backup, Restore, Clone, NDMP integration, VMWare backup and recovery)
  • Knowledge of Cloud computing technologies & concepts, especially security and software-defined Datacenter (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google, etc.)
  • Must be able to work with a team of subject matter experts who direct activities of an outsourced support team in day-to-day incident management, maintenance activities and projects.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Desired, but not required:

  • AWS offerings including S3 and Storage Gateway
  • Hands-on experience with NetApp workflow automation
  • Experience with automated/scripted/policy-based management of large storage environments
  • Software-Defined Storage (on-prem and public cloud)
  • Perl or Python, shell scripting and RestAPI
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows and UNIX (HP, Linux, IBM, RedHat, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of standard networking protocols and elements (TCP/IP, DNS)
  • In-depth knowledge of standard Storage protocols and elements (SAN, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS)
  • Knowledge of Virtualization Technologies (examples: VMware vSphere, HyperV, Oracle Virtual Machine, RedHat Enterprise Virtualization, Xen, KVM, etc.)
  • Kubernetes, Ansible
  • Exposure to the following application suites: Oracle and SQL databases, SAP HANA, Oracle Exalogic, IBM ClearCASE, Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010 / 2012
