Position Responsibilities: As a member of the CSO team, you will plan, document, coordinate, and perform day-to-day CSO operations and systems administration procedures on multiple systems. Make on-line and off-line configuration changes in support of operations, test or exercises. Support system users, administrators, and maintainers. Diagnose, troubleshoot and report system problems. Operate the Space Defense Operations Center (SPADOC). Identify, report, coordinate, and document system abnormalities for IBM mainframe, servers, clients and peripheral devices. Perform scheduled and unscheduled Initial Program loads (IPLs) and system failovers. Coordinate with system leads, SMEs, analysts, maintenance personnel and System Center/Job Control on repair actions/status. Perform scheduled recovery and backup system tasks. Create output products and disseminate, as requested. Initialize Exercise and Training (EAT) on Live/Backup system, as requested by customer. Create Mission/Scenario media. Recycle Address Spaces (A/S) as requested. Respond to failures and anomalies. Ensure facility security by utilizing established entry/access and emergency procedures. Assist in training of apprentice personnel and follow proper handling procedures for classified materials. Ability to work non-standard shifts is a requirement. Monitors and operates electronic digital computers to process business, scientific, engineering, or other data according to operating instructions. Normally required to set control switches; ensure that correct peripheral equipment is utilized and move switches to clear system and operate the equipment; selects and loads input and output units with materials such as tapes and printout forms. Observes equipment and control panels for operator messages or error indicators. Sets up and runs diagnostic test and reacts appropriately to the messages and reports errors or machine malfunctions as required. May perform clerical work incidental to machine operations such as labeling tape containers, maintaining production records, replenishing specified stock items, and distributing output materials. Normally required to operate peripheral equipment to perform such operations as tape-to-printer. Takes corrective action according to supervisor's instructions. Selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. IBM Mainframe experience desired. Applicant will be trained and must pass initial and recurring evaluations to maintain employment.
Position requires shift work, Days, Swings, Mids. Basic Qualifications:
TS with DCID 6/4 Eligibility
Proven ability to operate, learn or understand IBM mainframe systems and associated Linux, Windows and/or other proprietary peripherals. Basic understanding of an Enterprise network architecture and internetworking protocols and technology. Knowledge of mainframes, networks and/or workgroup servers. With aid and supervision, determine and develop approach to solutions within established guidance. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Candidate must meet minimum certification requirement for DoD Directive 8570, “Information Assurance Training, Certification, and Workforce Management”. This position requires a minimum certification associated with IAT Level I, which may be met with an A+, Network+ or higher. Candidate must possess a qualifying 8570 certification within 3 months of hire date. Initial certification expenses will not be covered by the program. Desired Skills:
VMS, LINUX, and MVS tools experience/knowledge desired.
