The Juniper Pig is dedicated to returning the old-world , sustainable craft of butchery to our neighborhoods. As a Food Service Member, primary responsibilities include prep work for menu items and other prepared foods and prepare made-to-order sandwiches and other menu items; with efficiency and consistent adherence to quality in preparation, presentation and taste. In addition, you ll support and promote The Juniper Pig s mission and commitments to our customers. For those with interest, being a Juniper Pig Team Member will offer learning opportunities in meat processing, i.e. sausage making, and other aspects of butchery.


  • Full or Part-time: $10-14/hour, based on experience

Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Help create and maintain a culture of friendliness, helpfulness and authenticity, where customer experience is the measure of success
  • Take menu orders and prepare menu items to customer satisfaction
  • Assist with answering customer phone calls and taking and filling of orders

Retail Management

  • Work efficiently and independently in all aspects of scratch made production
  • Multi-task between orders while working a busy flattop station (prepping, restocking and cleaning) throughout shift
  • Ensure that prepared ingredients are organized, presentable, properly labeled and visual appealing
  • Ensure that all product is properly stored and rotated (FIFO)
  • Responsible for adhering to production schedules
  • Prepare rotisserie items
  • Consistently deliver highest quality product, demonstrating integrity in process and technique
  • Practice good and safe knife skills
  • Maintain clean equipment and work areas to maintain health and sanitation standards

Position Requirements

  • 3 months experience in food prep in a comparable setting (deli, butcher shop, grocery store department or QSR)
  • 1+ year of experience total in food/culinary trade (some combination of culinary school, line cooking, food production, catering, etc.)
  • Comfortable providing customer service
  • Knowledge of food safety & handling requirements
  • Accepts changes and cooperates with management on actions designed to improve store operations and finances
  • Commitment to principles of sustainable meat production and mission of The Juniper Pig
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • In a work day: standing/walking 6+ hours
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good working relationships with co-workers
  • Knowledgeable use of email and Point of Sale systems

Availability to work a varied schedule; including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
