Reach Your Peak.Employment Counsel will be a member of the Vail Resorts?? legal team and will be a strategic partner providing labor and employment-related legal advice to various divisions of the company. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of employment law experience and will be able to handle a wide range of legal questions with practical solutions, will communicate confidently and clearly with business clients (including executives and front line employees), manage competing priorities and thrive in a fast paced environment. ResponsibilitiesProvide legal advice, counsel and support to Human Resources, Employment Investigations, HR Compliance, HR Programs, and senior leaders on an array of labor and employment law matters including accommodations, discipline, compensation, leaves of absences, meal and rest periods, FMLA, FLSA issues, EEO requirements, social media, separations, and policies and procedures in order to reduce legal risk to the companyPrepare responses to EEOC and state fair employment agency discrimination charges and other types of employment-related agency complaints, such as federal and state departments of laborProvide advice regarding labor relations, CBA interpretation, grievances and other union related issuesMonitor state and federal employment legislation and governmental agency enforcement priorities and advise of developments that may or will affect the organizationAssist in the preparation and presentation of legal training to HR and business leadersSupervise and/or partner with internal and outside counsel in employment-related adversarial proceedings in most effective and efficient mannerAdhere to and support standards and goals of the company and the legal departmentOther duties as assigned Minimum QualificationsJD from accredited law school and active state bar license requiredMinimum 6 years?? legal experience focused in employment law, with significant time devoted to advice and counseling; in-house experience with a major corporation strongly preferredAn agile and flexible thinker, with the ability to quickly learn new areas of the law and the businessAn adept communicator, capable of distilling complex information into concise summaries supporting thoughtful, well-reasoned recommendationsDemonstrated commitment to providing exceptional service to business clientsDemonstrated judgment and ability to analyze problems, propose resolutions, and provide advice that is creative, practical and reflects strong legal acumenCreative problem solver with strong organizational and time management skillsDemonstrated ability to work under high pressure conditions and to successfully handle urgent situations with patience and diplomacyDemonstrated ability to simultaneously manage a variety of assignments and prioritize activities in a fast-paced, demanding environmentDemonstrated accountability and keen ability to meet aggressive deadlinesA resourceful self-starter, results and success-oriented, with the ability to ensure timely follow through by company employeesWillingness to travel to the company??s various resorts, including some overnight travelMust have a passion for promoting a positive, productive culture that furthers the company mission of \"Experience of a Lifetime\"Ability to build credibility quickly and provide strong legal support for complex and challenging business opportunities while positively and successfully managing relationships within diverse groups of stakeholdersA commitment to personal and professional growth, and receptivity to feedbackPreferred SkillsExperience working in a sophisticated in-house legal departmentStrong interpersonal skills and customer service orientationStrong team player with the ability to adapt and work well with a variety of personalitiesSuperior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsWe offer a variety of career opportunities at our world-class resorts and corporate headquarters near Boulder, Colorado in fields like Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Public Affairs & Sustainability, Marketing, Sales & Communications and more.
